چکیده

Deforestation or functional change from forest to non-forest plays a role in changing ecosystems and species within it. Insects as one of the faunas it is an interesting aspect be studied, especially ants. The research was conducted Nagari Gunung Selasih Sungai Kambut, Pulau Punjung District, Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra November 2017 January 2018. This study aims determine diversity ants palm oil plantation ecosystem bordering ecosystem. takes form survey where Purposive Random Sampling method used for points sampling. Hand Collecting, Bait Trap, Pitfall Trap sampling methods were applied each plant. Identification samples obtained carried out at Animal Taxonomy Laboratory, Department Biology, Faculty Mathematics Natural Sciences, Andalas University, Padang. Total (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) collected during 3,046 individuals consisting 5 subfamilies, 15 genera, 29 species. most dominant Anoplolepis graciliphes, followed by Odontoponera denticulate Odontomachus simillimus. Based on results study, can concluded that level abundance ant not directly affected distance ecosystem, but strongly influenced composition environmental factors such temperature, humidity, light intensity, altitude, management existing habitats vegetation.

The Impact of Selective-Logging and Forest Clearance for Oil Palm on Fungal Communities in Borneo

Tropical forests are being rapidly altered by logging, and cleared for agriculture. Understanding the effects of these land use changes on soil fungi, which play vital roles in the soil ecosystem functioning and services, is a major conservation frontier. Using 454-pyrosequencing of the ITS1 region of extracted soil DNA, we compared communities of soil fungi between unlogged, once-logged, and t...

Committed carbon emissions, deforestation, and community land conversion from oil palm plantation expansion in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Industrial agricultural plantations are a rapidly increasing yet largely unmeasured source of tropical land cover change. Here, we evaluate impacts of oil palm plantation development on land cover, carbon flux, and agrarian community lands in West Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. With a spatially explicit land change/carbon bookkeeping model, parameterized using high-resolution satellite time ser...

Archaeal Community Changes Associated with Cultivation of Amazon Forest Soil with Oil Palm.

This study compared soil archaeal communities of the Amazon forest with that of an adjacent area under oil palm cultivation by 16S ribosomal RNA gene pyrosequencing. Species richness and diversity were greater in native forest soil than in the oil palm-cultivated area, and 130 OTUs (13.7%) were shared between these areas. Among the classified sequences, Thaumarchaeota were predominant in the na...
